Another update to tumblweed!

- Better line break formatting
- You can now add items to your queue
- Dashboard automatically refreshes every 200s (I will keep working on this feature)
- When new posts are found when refreshing your dasboard, you will get a small Growl-like notification. (I need to add a settings panel to turn this off)
- Window location and size now gets saved
- Tumblweed now loads the 50 most recent posts for a dashboard.
- The dashboard view now uses the 100px width photo image which isn’t cropped rather than the 75px cropped image

A little note about linebreaks and formatting. Tumblr is a little finicky with its line breaks and parsing. So, if you are having major issues with linebreaks, please let me know. Also, the formatting on your actual tumblelog can vary depending on the way your theme is setup.

Hey everyone, Today I released a new version of Tumblweed. I suggest you update to the newest version!

The Dashboard
Well, Tumblr has finally released their dashboard API, so I implemented it! By default, your Dashboard will be the initial view when you log in using tumblweed. From there, you can select your other blogs just like you were doing before. Let me know if you see any problems. In the future I will be fixing the feed view so that the photo posts are bigger, text is easier to read, and feeds can be filtered.

Whats else is new
I’ve also fixed: language support for most languages, scrolling the main feed view using the mouse wheel, and I added the snapshot feature back to the photo posts. If you are still having issues seeing characters in certain languages, please let me know!

All posts now support: tags, private posts, draft posts, custom...

All posts now support: tags, private posts, draft posts, custom dates, custom URL slugs, and the newly added support for twitter messages. For twitter messages, it only works if you have linked your Twitter account to your Tumblr account. There are two types of tweets: auto generated and custom.

I’ve updated the log in screen to more closely resemeble Tumblr’s login screen. I also added a progress screen for feedback during photo uploads because it can take a while sometimes. Next: Snapshots and styling post forms.

Added drag and drop, as well as URL support for photo posts.

Another chapter in tumblweed begins! I have overhauled the architecture of the application and started using PureMVC as a framwork to more easily update and maintain the codebase. But, this is going to require a fresh install of tumblweed.

How to update The newest version requires a fresh install. You need to uninstall your current version and download the newest version. Sorry :(

Feedback Because this is a new version, I will need some help bug testing, please get in touch if you find any major problems.

Now that is a sexy graph. This might be the reason I keep getting emails about Tumblweed after not touching the project for what feels like a year. Good news though, all of the interest in tumblweed has persuaded me to take another crack at the project and apply a lot of the skills I’ve learned over the past year to improve it. Expect a new and simplified release in the next 2 weeks.

Dashboard?

Once a week I receive a question about the Dashboard in Tumblweed. First, I would LOVE to add the dashboard to Tumblweed, I think it is a great feature and I wish it wasn’t limited to the browser.To my knowledge, Tumblr still hasn’t made the dashboard (specifically, posts of people you follow) available via their API.

If this is a feature you would like Tumblr to add, I highly suggest emailing them a suggestion.

I suppose an update is long overdue… I’m rebuilding Tumblweed from scratch.

Yeah, kinda a pain in the ass, but its turning out really good. I’m addressing a lot of the usability issues with the current version.

What will be new?

- resizable window

- just 1 window for the application (rather than separate windows for posts)

- simplified and more compact design

Lastly, a request. If anyone is interested in making a few buttons/icon artwork for Tumblweed, let me know. I’d like to get some small icons for the various post types and maybe a new logo? If anyone likes Tumblweed a lot and wants to contribute, just email me and I can give you some more details.

It figures that as soon as I release the new design for Tumblweed, Tumblr releases a new (better) design for the main site.. I hope to update to this design soon as well as add a custom resizing. I believe custom resizing has been the #1 request (/complaint) lately.

I’m also looking into some of the Char set issues.

So, it’s been a while since my last update! I’m currently working on a redesign of Tumblweed that will suport the expanded Tumblr API!

New Functionality:

Ability to view all of your public tumblelogs (and all private posts within those tumblelogs).
editing posts
deleting posts

On top of that, the redesign will be very similar to the Tumblr interface. Why? Well it is a great interface but it also reduces the learning curve when dealing with the AIR application. Screens coming soon!

Groups and Future Updates

Groups have now been added to the advanced setting. You can post to all of your Public and Private groups!

Next, I plan to overhaul the design a bit and look into doing edits from within Tumblweed using some of the new features in the Tumblr API.

I will be adding the ability to switch between your Tumblelogs from within Tumblweed.

Please send me feedback and suggestion on the current design so that I can make changes in the new design.

Last week I released a small update to Tumblweed which fixed a display issue with Quotes and some minor UI changes.

I’ve been working on adding groups aswell, which should be out in a month or so.

In other news, Tumblweed has been added to the Developers page! Thanks for all of the support.
